The seventh edition carefully compared with the best London edition, whereby many very gross omissions, in the former impressions in folio, have been supplied, and great multitudes of errors corrected: together with compleater and more correct indexes than any heretofore published. EDINBURGH: Printed by David Gray, for J. Johnston, M.DCC.LXII. [1762] Two volumes bound in one. A large folio volume, which measures approx 40cm x 25cm x 8cm. The top board is detached, and the rear board is cracking to hinge and is loosening, held loosely by binding threads. The boards are rather surface worn and scuffed, with surcace chipping, leaving a rather pitted/scratched appearance. The corners and edges of the boards, are bumped, and chipped, with loss. The leather to spine is chipped to the top and bottom and is cracking and creased, and headbands missing. The title label is darkened a little chipped, and the gilt titles faded and darkened. The free endpapapers and blanks to the front and rear are missing, and the fixed endpapers are a bit grubby and worn. As can be seen from the photos, the title page is in poor condition, it is heavily torn and creased and chipped, with loss, and is grubby with some light foxing. The three following leaves are a little torn to the top inner corners, and are a little nicked and creased to corners and edges. The front of the work is dampstained to the margins. The contents are rather grubby, marked, with some browning, foxing, and the odd scattered small edge stain. There are a number of page edge, nicks, chips and tears, and a few scattered small holes etc, and some creasing. There is an engraved plate, which is heavily torn, tatty and a bit grubby and a bit foxed. The folding late is rather creased, foxed, browned, and loosening at the inner edge. The majority of the leaves are reasonable condition. Text complete. Title page, [iii]-xi, un-numbered page, pages [1]-457, including index.
