This is a 62 mm (about 2 ½ inch) in diameter, 122-gram (4.3 oz) US Mint Medal of the Great Seal of the United States . It was designed by Charles E Barber and originally struck in 1882, on the 100 th anniversary of the seal’s adoption. It is in MINT CONDITION. This is likely an early 1970’s strike and it has the typical matte finish of post-WWII US Mint medals. This is among the vast majority of 19 th century and early 20 th century US Mint medals have not been produced by the mint since 1985 due to very low demand. Of course the MINT is to blame for the low demand because they never advertised the availability of these medals in almost FOURTY years! will combine postage for winning bidders of multiple items.
