American, mid-19th century. A very rare stoneware flask in a rockingham, mottled glaze. One side with molded hunting bag with game and B. F. & Co. N.Y., the other side depicting hunting dogs and a rifle. This is a scarce and desirable piece with multiple auction records from notable auction houses and several examples in various museums around the country. The company Bulkely and Fiske only has a handful of bottle designs and all of them are valuable. If you do some research you will find examples of their pieces in price guides, auction catalogs, museum collections and written about in plenty of articles.I purchased from an estate sale in San Francisco several years ago.- Condition is clearly shown in pictures with many angles and photos of any damage. Specifically you will see there is a crack to the side that depicts the game bag with company letters. The piece is very solid and strong and isn't fragile by any means, even where the damage is. I am uncertain if there have been any repairs to the crack, but I'm thinking there hasn't been. The other side which shows the dogs and rifle is perfect. The handle, base and top rim are also perfect... no other chips or cracks on piece.I'm starting the bidding at $99 with no reserve. This is likely a fair bottom end and/or top end value for this piece, but I will have the bidding up for 1 read more
