Scarce print of Hattie E. Burdette's 1931 Masonic portrait of George Washington. Famous print of George Washington as Freemason. Washington was a well-known Mason, offered the position of Grand Master, and appointed Master of Alexandria Lodge 22 in Virginia. Artist Burette depicts him here donning full masonic regalia, including the apron, which bears a pyramid icon. His hat is adorned with a masonic compass, and he wears a sunburst around his neck. The apron features the American flag crossed with another. A "G" hovers over his shoulder, rumored to symbolize God. Fine print lower right indicates this was printed as part of the "George Washington Bicentennial Celebration" copyright Sol Bloom. Measures 46" by 32". There is a 5" tear at the bottom which is visible in the photos. Feel free to ask questions.
