Please note that this is a 5 Day Auction. Description: Offered is to the best of my knowledge a nice antique dish or wall plaque that was made by Schafer and Vater of Germany. What makes this blue and white jasperware dish special is the cute scene in the center that features a cherub giving a kiss on the cheek to a fairy above a cluster of roses.Their arms are interlocked and the fairy has her head tuned to the side with her eyes almost closed in anticipation. The details are very nicely done. I especially like the fairy's hairdo and the round eye spots on her delicate dragonfly like wings.Around the outer edge of the dish t is a border of grape leaves and little curly tendrils that are spread out along a grape vine. It has its original braded wire hanger on the back. The back's the inner part is a shade of green. Near the center t is a small number 46 impressed into the china. To the lower right of that number t is written number that I can only read first two numbers of which read 25. T is also a longer number in the blue area on the right that I can not read. As noted above I believe that the dish was possibly made by Schafer and Vater of Germany.I have made every effort to show this dish/plaque as it actually appears. Please note that depending on the settings of the viewer's monitor/computer the illustrations with this auction may look darker or lighter then what they actually are. Size: The dish has an outer diameter of 4 and 5/8". Condition: The jasperwares produced in Germany were originally somewhat inexpensive wares and as such often had small defects or flaws present when they left the factory. The paragraph below describes some of the factory flaws that are present on this nice dish/wall plaque:Below the roses t is a small natural void in the china that has been t since dish was made at the factory. It is to the left of the lowest group of leaves. Under the tip of the lowermost leaf t is a small spot of green in the china that also has been t since the dish was made. When I rub my fingers around the outer edge I can feel a little rough spot on one of the grape leaves at the top. I have inspected this with magnification and again I believe that the dish came this way from the factory. In the green area on the backside t are some tool marks in the surface of the china.Overall this fine and cute dish or wall plaque is in very good original condition. The white jasper is bright and clean.
