SCHATZ Ship's Bell Clock Ship's Wheel Motif Since 1818, Schatz has been the leader of classic ships' instruments, and one of very few that still make the mechanical chiming movements that were so familiar to the naval and merchant seaman of 100 years ago. This classic brass ship's clock rings out the sound of the fascinating "Ship's Bells" watchkeeping system of four hours on four hours off, striking one bell after the first half-hour, two after an hour and so on until the end of watch "eight bells" - time to change crew and start the pattern again. The intricate workmanship is protected in stove- lacquered, solid brass case with a thick glass port, secured by brass screw-on bezel. 8 Day, 7 Jewel clock. Separate winding springs for both time and chime. A small lever above the numeral 11 places the chime either "ON" or "OFF". Schatz is the epitome of German quality ship's instruments. You can feel the weight of its brass case. This clock has never been mounted and has never been used. You will need to obtain a winding key for the clock (your local clock shop/jewelers). Instructions for setting up your Miniature Schatz Ship's Bell Clock are included.
