Up for offer is a Vintage Schon Pool cue from the early 1980's. This gem is a 2 owner cue, has the original finish, and features the rare implex joints- the hit on this is indescribable. Deal includes 2 shafts, one is 13 mm the other is more like 12.5.mm, both shafts are the old-style checker rings and includes a set of wooden joint protectors. I am pretty sure this weighs in around 19.5 oz.... not 100%certain. Ships in a 2x2 hard case + a few other goodies.A few years back I took this cue to Eric over at Schon,he was amazed at the condition of this relic. He re-weighted the butt for me, and replaced the bumper. ( I still have and will include the original bumper as well) the finish is all original other than the wrap, which was done about 15 years ago in Irish Linen. The Bad:Both shafts have slight warpage-> both are still very playable, There is a slight separation at the Delrin Butt and the implex joints, I can just barely feel them with my finger. There are a couple of dents and dings, but none that break the finishYou guys know what this cue is, So I will do no reserve, this Cue will make someone very very happy. Good luck ! Thanks for looking Update:3/26/2011 I have been fielding quite a few questions, I want to be as open and honest as possible.Here is an update with pictures. Lots on cue's straightness. Butt appears to roll true, the wrap is playable, but it is old and sticks past the wood slightly. Both shafts have a moderate bow to them. Both will "hump" off the table when rolled alone, one a dimes thickness, the other a quarter's thickness.Both tips leave the table approximately 1/8" when joined to the butt, it may not really be this bad, as I stated the wrap is hindering the "true roll".Looking down the shafts with the eye you can see the bow, on both.I stated earlier you could "feel" a difference in the butt cap and joint with a fingernail. Well, seems the butt cap is loose, that is why I could feel that difference, spin it 1/8 a revolution and everything feels nice and inline. As far as feeling a separation at the joint, I was referring to the meeting of the butt and shaft, not on the joinery of the butt joint itself. This difference is literally the thickness of 2 hairs.There are a few rice grained sized dings that discolored the finish, and a very small ding to the butt cap, a very,very small ding on the edge of the joint. A few fair scratched that marred the finish, most all of these should be are viewable in the photos.The finish is not cracked or damaged anywhere on the cue, for a 30 years old cue it is almost perfect. The finish blemishes I am pointing out are harmless, and really only noticeable upon close inspection.This is BEM Bird's eye maple with ebony points and windows. This is an early cue, had cut and inlaid, no CNC there are a few minor imperfections in the inlay work that is UNDER the finish, done by the craftsman, these are small, but visible. One has been mistaken for a "crack" in the window area, I updated that photo for you to compare.The maple on this is beautiful, quite figured, i added a few more close ups, and the ebony is deep and dark. To my knowledge this cue is stock other than the weight being changed.The joint and ferrules are starting to yellow, I figured this was the old micarta, but am having troubles finding some that looks like this, interestingly there is "grain" to the yellow stuff, I tried to pix it for ya.I want the winner to be happy with this and no surprises, I have 100% for a reason.ps thanks to Superslitter for the pix advice.I hope this clears most things up.Good luck and Thanks"This is an early cue, had cut and inlaid, no CNC"I mean to type "Hand cut and inlaid", not "had" cut.
