To start, please see pictures for they are a major part of my description, thank you. Up for auction is a SCHRADE+ USA made Scrimshaw Commemorative honoring the world's first manned moon landing. This beautiful knife set is number 5204 out of 6000 issued and it's in excellent, unused condition in original box and with all original paperwork. This set is titled "THE EAGLE HAS LANDED". It is with great pride that SHRADE CUTLERY introduces the third of a four piece limited edition "PIONEERS OF AMERICA" commemorative scrimshaw series. Knife set was issued in 1989. Ivory type DELRIN handles have the scrimshawed scene of the actual erecting of the American flag on one side. Hand painted with permanent dyes and signed by the artist, F. GIORTGIANNI (I think it's spelled correctly). On the other handle is engraved: 20TH ANNIVERSARY APOLLO 11 LANDING ON THE MOON JULY 20, 1969 Tang stamped: SCHRADE+ U.S.A. LTD. Etching on the blade reads" Limited Edition "THAT'S ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND." Knife is 5" long closed and has a 3 3/4" stainless steel blade that still has the factory edge. Bolsters, pins and liners are of mirror finished nickel silver.
