Science Comics # 1 - True Science Illustrated Comics From The Golden Age ! Science Comics # 1, 1951 - GD 2.8 - Canadian Edition Another interesting find: Science Comics # 1 , subtitled True Science Illustrated. This Canadian comics featured science adventure type stories as well as true science features and fact based articles. The copy I own, differs from the the scan that shows up on the Grand Comics Database in two ways: It is cut differently, t is less space at the top between the rocket ship and the edge, and t is no date or number underneath the title. My guess would be that this is the true Canadian edition, not the one that was imported into the US and distributed by Kable News Co. The indica is on the bottom back cover and displays that this is Volume 1, # 1, but no date. A true rarity. So, from the man on the moon cover, to the interior stories that have a pedagogical slant, we have a very nice copy. First up, we have Dave Keene and Doctor Franklin exploring the exciting possibilites of a Rocket To The Moon . One paragraph that caught my eye has Doctor Franklin saying, "Yes, Dave, it is quite possible that within 25 years, maybe sooner, that a picked group of physically perfect keen-minded young scientists will attempt to reach the moon and begin a great new era for mankind, the conquest of space." well, it didn't quite read more
