is a handpainted brooch pin by Mary Delmoro of a Scottish Terrier. It is 2" x 7/8" and is painted on a colorful slice of jasper. All items are individually handpainted acrylic paint on sliced and polished stone; most are Brazilian agate, but sometimes other stones are used. I try to match the color and patterns of the stone to the animal I am painting. They have multiple coats of lacquer to protect the painting, however they can be scratched if handled too roughly.A note about the artist -My name is Mary Delmoro and I live in Apple Creek, Ohio; I am a lifelong artist and specialize in animal subjects. I have a BS in Natural Resources with a specialization in Wildlife Management (The Ohio State University 1980) with a minor in art. In 1985 I started Animal Images and became a fulltime artist, deciding on creating "wearable" art in the form of jewelry. My first paintings were on porcelain, then years later I combined my love of lapidary with my art and began painting on stone. For well over a decade I traveled the country setting up booths at dog shows (along with the occasional cat, bird, horse and goat show) and sold my paintings.
