SCARCE SKYWALD MONSTER MAGAZINE: SCREAM ! This Auction Includes: SCREAM #9, SUPERB VF CONDITION; AWESOME LUNATIC MUMMY COVER WITH A DETACHED BLEEDIN' HEAD. Uncommon original terror magazine spotlighting the supernatural and occult and the salacious content in a way the comic-size publications could not match, because these larger format periodicals where not inhibited by the Comics Code Authority. For example, this sordid issue has werewolves, vampires, sea monsters, evil temptresses, topless vixens, numerous evil minions and ghouls and live-undead along with other beasts of the darkness, plus the usual informative article about the monster films, and there's the feature about the masterful Pablo Marcos, and much more! Cover art by "Faba" is incredible, with a mummy carrying a pike with a fresh bloody head dripping atop it, while other skulls are mounted on other spears in that particular graveyard as well (giving this tremendous crossover appeal to fans of skull covers and mummy covers and the countless fans of severed-head covers like this!)Includes "The Victims: I Am Horror Incarnate"!) (Crucial fare for any fan of the Walking Dead or other such zombie and living cadaver material!) . All beautifully illustrated just like in the pre-code horror comics from over fifty years ago, except these are in black and white. Overall dimensions are a large 8.5" x 11"; from Skywald Publications as the September, 1974, issue. This IS the original first printing of this uncommon yet popular book. CONDITION: It is flat, clean, and glossy, and appears almost new at arm's length. Gorgeous bone white paper, and no dog-eared pages or tears or writing. All bright and supple, and tightly attached at both original shiny factory staples. Front cover is a solid VF, a rare treat to behold. (See the enlarged scan, which sums the condition up pretty well.) The back cover is comparable but has some little edge nicks, likely from the original trimming process, and a hint of general wear. Overall, a stunning copy with excellent gloss and eye appeal. (Innards appear possibly untouched.) This essential issue is crucial fare for any horror buff or fan of monster mag's such as Nightmare, Chilling, Creepy, Psycho, and Eerie, but in most cases, this smaller publisher put out material that was more lurid and shocking than Warren.
