Some refer to the beads as "wedding cake" beads and rightfully so... as they appear in smooth satin glaze with frosted detail. Hand blown in Jablonec nad Nisou, Czechoslovakia, in the early 1920's, the Robin Blue crystal of the earrings possess hues of turquoise which fade into the palest sky blue near the circumference of their 5/8" diameter. Deep within, streams of iridescent silver and gold band in streaks and set a stage for the sculptured splashes of decorative glass in shades of pink, lavendar, and deep blue. Each bead would consume at least 4 to 5 hours in its creation. These beads are the main focal point of the chandalier earrings which dangle all of 3 3/4" from top of fine brass- over- silver wire loop to bottom edge of middle linked charm. The beads are capped in intricate gold with a fluted "bonnet"of rose gold above. Three sculputured charms of scrolling leaves and petaled flowers exend from the 8 open-sectioned "wheel". The charms and wheel are of solid nickle silver with gold overlay. Hallmarks are found upon the edges of solid cast charms and their bails. Among hallmarks are the script "J" for Jablonec, the 9K, the Bohemian Lion and the serial numbers. "Made in Czechoslovakia" can also be found within edges of links.
