ITEM INFORMATION You are bidding in a no reserve auction on an original framed signed watercolor/ink on paper by listed artist, Edward Hergelroth. The scene depicts a sunset or sunrise upon the sand dunes and beach plums. This was recently purchased at an estate sale. The seller believes the painting to be from the 1960’s. She mentioned it was given to her parents as a gift. The frame, if original, makes the information seem plausible. The frame appears to be oak with a gray wash. Edward Hergelroth is listed in Davenports Art Guide. He can also be found on AskArt. BACKGROUND : Provided by AskArt. Information provided by tidbits found on AskArt. Edward Hergelroth studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and held an MFA from the Tyler School of Fine Arts. He was Chair of the Art Education Department of Temple University, and later taught privately. Hergelroth had over a dozen solo exhibitions of his work and was included in numerous east coast group exhibits. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, his work is represented in many private collections in the U.S. and Europe. DESCRIPTION : The watercolor/ink is signed in pencil in the lower right portion of the painting. The painting has been laid down. ART: CONDITION : (I try to describe the items accurately and point out problems. However, t may be blemishes I fail to notice. A number of photos of the actual item I am selling have been included . Please examine these carefully and ask questions before you bid. All items are sold as is. ) The painting is in nice condition. The work is original, untouched and unrestored. The work looks much better in person as the subtleties of color change do not translate in the photograph. T are some blemishes. T appears to be foxing. This is pointed out in a photo I have included. It does not have any tears, repairs staining. SIZE : (The measurements are approximate.) The painting, shown inside the mat, measures 16 by 10 inches. FRAME: CONDITION : The frame is old and appears to be the original. It is untouched and unrestored. It does have some dings. I do not consider t to be terrible. This is just my opinion. It is sturdy. SIZE : (The measurements are approximate.) The frame’s outer dimensions are 20.5 x 15 inches. MAT : CONDITION : The mat is dirty and should be replaced..
