SEBASTIAN MINIATURES "EUSTACE TILLY ESQ". FIGURINE - EXTREMELY RARE! Over 1,100 different Sebastian Miniatures were designed and produced by Prescott W. Baston from 1938 to the present. When the great miniaturist died in 1984, his son Prescott, Jr. (Woody) carried on the tradition of Sebastian "Folks in Little." All figurines were hand cast and hand painted in New England. Sebastian Miniatures represent elegant and authentic handcrafted American Art. Eustace Tilley is the name given to the 19 th century boulevardier languidly inspecting a passing butterfly through his monocle on the cover of the first issue of The New Yorker dated February 21, 1925. Eustace Tilly Esq. is the trademark of The New Yorker magazine. The same picture appeared on the magazine's anniversary issue every year until 1994. The magazine's Circulation Department commissioned Baston to create this Eustace Tilly figurine. Baston captured the haughty gentleman peering through his pince-nez at a nonexistent butterfly. The magazine used 500 that year for a promotion. Underneath the figurine, it has a red Sebastian sticker which says "Hand Cast and Hand Painted Hudson Massachusetts Miniatures®. The clothing of Eustace is so rich looking with grey pants, brown long coat, and the dominating black top hat. This figurine of Eustace Tilly is a figurine manufactured in 1 read more
