Sequoyah Wood Carved Figurine Signed /Numbered David V Goodlett Alabama 10.5 " Smaller version of one in Oakville Indian Mounds Alabama. Numbered dated and inscribed to recipient 3/8/1997 10.5 inches tall 4.5" base spectacular carving for historian, office, Native American Indian collector , Alabama history. Local artist , At Oakville Indian Mounds, in the center of the museum is a spectacular wooden statue of the Cherokee legend, Sequoyah, created by David Goodlett, a local artist. Goodlett is known throughout Alabama art circles for his American Indian creations and as the founder of the state's first woodcarving educational programs. The statue of Sequoyah is the largest piece created by Goodlett. It stands 12 feet high and is carved from a huge white-oak tree trunk. It took Goodlett nearly two years to complete the statue of Sequoyah.This 10.5 version is a very nice piece of sculpture.
