Up for auction is this set of vintage decorative plates from Poland. These plates were brought back from Poland by my grandmother and great aunt who made several trips t circa 1950's. It is a beautiful collection of eastern European ethnic folk art but downsizing has made it impossible to display them and I am selling them rather than keeping them in storage. These plates were made by Polish artisans who used a combination of carving, burning, and staining intricate designs on the plates. Then strips of brass (and on one of the plates, brass and copper) are carefully inlaid into designs. are the diameters, from largest to smallest: 12 inches, 11 3/4 inches, 11 3/8 inches, 11 1/8 inches, and 9 1/4 inches. Inlay designs include tulips, roosters, hearts, stars, and swirls. On one of the plates (with tulip design) the brass inlay has separated and t, but could be carefully pushed back. T are a few dings and scratches on the back of the plates but the faces, for the most part, are in excellent vintage condition. See photos. More detailed photos available upon request.
