Set of 2 Anthony Shaw Lily of the Valley Tea Leaf Ironstone 7 7/8” Plates, 1860s Welcome to this listing. We are extremely pleased to offer this set of two 7 7/8” diameter plates in the Lily-of-the-Valley body style by the English firm of Anthony Shaw. Some collectors call these plates bread and butter plates, while others consider them to be dessert plates. Their size, however, is rare and very difficult to find. Both plates have a gleaming white glaze and a bright and shiny copper luster tea leaf and banding. They are free of chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines, discoloration, and restoration. Crazing, which is common to ironstone, is present in both, but very heavy in one. There is a 5/8” glaze rub on the foot ring of one plate. Both plates have two marks. The Royal Arms black mark states “Stone China, Warranted, Anthony Shaw, Burslem”. The impressed mark states “A. Shaw, Warranted.” Please watch our auctions in upcoming weeks as we will have additional fabulous items in the Lily of the Valley body style by Anthony Shaw.
