Here 's a rare opportunity to own an architectural treasure (actually four of them) which will function in and enhance your everyday life. In the mid-1950s, Cecil and Betty LaCourse corresponded with Frank Lloyd Wright requesting his services in designing an inspiring mortuary chapel to be built in Delano, California. Following the famed architects death, the project was taken over by Wright's first apprentice (and son-in-law) William Wesley Peters. All aspects of the Delano Mortuary Chapel (including these chairs) were designed by Peters and the Taliesin architects with the building being completed in 1960. These original chairs - clearly inspired by Wright's earlier masterwork designs for the Midway Gardens and Taliesin West - were saved in the 1980s when the chapel's new owner installed traditional pews to accommodate more guests. Each having their original paint and tufted upholstery, these chairs - more uplifting than funerial - are in completely original and excellent condition showing only the most minimal signs of their true age. The paint is shiny with extremely minor scuffs and scapes and the upholstery is perfect with no visible wear, tear, burns or holes. Provenance for these chairs can be found in the book A Living Architecture - Frank Lloyd Wright and the Taliesin Architects by John Rattenbury. As unique and excellent read more
