Seth Thomas Westminster Mantle Clock - Chime No. 72 This Westminster "Chime No. 72" Mantel Clock was made by the Seth Thomas Clock Company in Thomaston, Connecticut between 1920 and 1925. The Gothic style case is made of mahogany solids and veneers. The polished brass dial is engraved with an intricate ivy pattern and includes a silver tone chapter ring with applied black Arabic numerals. This eight-day spring wound #113 movement clock keeps accurate time and plays the Westminster chimes on four tuned rods on the ¼ hour (4 notes on the quarter hour, 8 notes on the half hour, 12 notes on the three quarter hour, and 16 notes of the Westminster melody on the hour) and then strikes the hours on a fifth rod. The clock face includes two smaller dials, one for regulating the time and one for silencing the chimes. This clock was well cared for and has been in my aunt's family for three generations. The movement on this clock was serviced and cleaned by an experienced clock smith about six months ago. Although the clock is in proper running condition, the mahogany cabinet needs refinishing. Note: this clock winds to the left and includes original keys Another quality auction from Anne45
