General Sir Redvers Buller VC, Kings Royal Rifle Corps Lieutenant General Sir George White VC, 92nd Gordon Highlanders General Sir Evelyn Wood VC, 17th Lancers Captain The Hon R.H. de Montmorency VC, 21st Lancers Major-General Sir John McNeill VC, 107th Foot (Royal Sussex Regiment) General Sir Hugh Gough VC, 3rd Bengal Cavalry Lieutenant The Hon. F.H.S. Roberts VC, Kings Royal Rifles (son of Field Marshal Lord Roberts) Published in Celebrities of the Army being a series of portraits in colour of Celebrities of the Army (including the Indian Army) at the time of the Second Boer War in South Africa, with monographs by Commander Chas. N. Robinson R.N. published by George Newnes Limited, London 1900. (First Edition). The portraits, each with detailed title in the lower margin, are printed on high quality stock and each measures 26 cms x 35 cms (10 inches x 14 inches) with wide margins all round and all are in excellent condition. The reverse of each portrait has biographical notes on the officer's military career and the action in which the Victoria Cross was won. Seven (7) superb antique colour portraits of Victoria Cross holders. The portraits will appeal to those with an interest in military history (particularly The Victoria Cross), militaria and military uniforms as well as to the collector of decorative prints. The portraits will look superb mounted and framed. The portraits are too large for my scanner and the wide white margins have been cropped in the image provided.
