Seymour Duncan Antiquity II Complete Set of Pickups The 60's Surf for Stratocaster For auction is the above complete set of pickups that I purchased new about a year ago. I have reproduced the words written by Seymour Duncan on the label below: Ahh, the '60s. They were ushered in with the sound of the surf and hot rods. They hit screaming adolescence with the British invasion. And they came of age with a three-day music fest the likes of which will never be duplicated. When I think about the 60's, I think about the music of the era. I think of daring surf guitar. Of jangly rhythms. And of one guy in particular who used to light his guitar on fire. My name is Seymour W. Duncan and I build guitar pickups. I've been doing it for a long time and I'm pretty proud of some of my original creations as well as my vintage replacement pickups. A few years back, I introduced a new pickup concept called Antiquity. Antiquity pickups were sonically and cosmetically aged to achieve the look and sound of well worn pickups from the '50s. And now, I'm proud to introduce Antiquity II: The 60's Series. Like the original Antiquity series , Antiquity II pickups are all built in my shop in Santa Barbara, California from the same materials and with the same production techniques as the originals. However the are certain appointments unique to the Antiquity II series that make them authentic 60's repros. For example, you'll find custom calibrated , sand cast Alnico V rod magnets with vintage correct surface features, as well as the light gray flatwork characteristic of the era. Each Antiquity II single coil pickup is hand wound using a "scatter wind" process that captures the original winding patterns in a way that no machine can duplicate. The bobbins are carefully aged and impregnated with fine dust particles, the magnets are ever so slightly demagnetised, and the wire insulation are treated to duplicate the tempering of years of use.Of course, all of this is done in order to accurately replicate that unmistakeable vintage tone of the early pickups in a way that could never be done with a mass production process. To some, this is craziness- imagine, intentionally creating an aged electrical component. But if you are like me, and you appreciate the personal commitment and hand craftsmanship found in American electric guitars of the 1960's, then you'll appreciate everything that goies into an Antiquity II pickup. They have had very little use and are as good as new except that the wires have been cut but they will fit any guitar with a Stratocaster configuration with the remaining wire. The wires can be extended by soldering vintage cloth type wire that is available from suppliers such as Allparts or WD Music if necessary. They come complete with all the boxes, all screws, labels with the serial numbers and resistance values, little cloth sacks, tissue paper that they were wrapped in, stickers and instructions. Although not shown in the photographs the serial numbers are on the back of each pickup and are individually signed with what seems like Mr Duncan's signature.
