Hi, I’m selling these ten volumes of leather-bound Shakespeare, the general quality of which I hope is shown in the photographs and brief details of which are below. This is shown "for collection only" as ebay won't allow me to reflect the true cost of postage in this listing but I can negotiate delivery in advance of your bidding. The details are as follows: Title: Mr William Shakespeare, his Comedies, Histories and Tragedies, set out by himself in quarto, and now faithfully republished from those Editions in ten Volumes octavo etc (10 vols) (“Capell’s Shakespeare” on spine) Author: Shakespeare/Capell Edition: First Published: London, printed by Dryden Leach for J and R Tonson in the Strand Dated: 1767-8 Binding; My Impression of Condition: Leather covers. Various ex libris stickers and previous owners’ names inscribed or crossed out; I would say in very good condition given its age. Vol 1 also has glued old auction entry to inside cover saying it dates from 1767 and one inch corner missing on one page (not affecting text); Vol 6 has 22 pages which have come loose and a historic repair retied at the top with newer (but still old) stitching and consequent creasing/small rips to four pages (not affecting text). Rubbing to covers. Foxing consistent with age; a few pencil marks. Dimensions/Weight: 180x120x30mm max, 4.5 kilos, approx. read more
