Welcome to my auction for this excellent example of a Sharp AR947N Classic Car Radio - in PERFECT working order It dates from the mid 70's and has the following features :- ** Upgraded to connect an ipod/mp3 player - complete with long connecting lead (Please note the ipod in the photo's is NOT included in the auction) ** Top of the range five pushbutton model - 3 for MW and 2 for LW ** Sought after and powerful fully transistorised set ** Attractive frontpanel with lots of chrome ** Chromed trim to the rotary controls ** Chromed station bezel ** Working station dial illumination ** Rotary tone control ** Crystal clear sensitive reception on both bands with plenty of volume ** All leads are present with inline fuseholder & fuse fitted ** Fully checked and left on test for hours - worked perfectly on both bands and polarities ** Photocopy of operating manual included ** 12 Volt Negative or Positive Earth (Plug at the rear of the set) ** C omplete and ready to install and enjoy in your classic car ** This radio has been fitted with a lead allowing you to play your digital files from your iPod or mp3 player directly through the radio - the connecting lead is almost 2 metres long, which is ample for most installations - and it is fitted with a standard 3.5mm jack plug which is compatible with all ipod/mp3 players. Some of the latest ipods and mp3 players also have a built in FM radio, so you could also listen to your favourite FM stations through the radio too It is in incredibly good condition for its age, and would not look out of place in the fascia of any classic car ! - it is in superb order considering it is almost 40 years old - a very attractive set. It sounds just as good as it looks too - I have had this on test over many hours using a Radiomobile speaker and it gave excellent performance over both bandwidths. All the pushbuttons and controls operate perfectly without any crackles or notchiness. These sets deliver quite a punch and it will easily drive a pair of speakers if you so wish. (Remember these are mono sets) You will certainly not be dissapointed with its performance, it is a very sensitive and powerful radio which tuned in plenty of local and national stations. These Sharp sets were fitted to many cars as an aftermarket accessory, and are suitable for installation in any 12 volt Negative or Positive earthed classic car - these radios are not seen too often nowadays in such fine cosmetic and working condition, and are always sought after, especially so with the iPod/mp3 lead fitted - take a look at the large sized photo's and judge the condition for yourself - it would look fabulous back in a fascia of a period classic car Perhaps now is the time to remove that awful modern cd player and give your beloved classic car a real period treat for this season's classic car rallies and shows ? A really good,attractive and powerful radio, which sounds great - dont miss this one !!
