SHAEFFER'S "LIFETIME" BALANC E *WHITE DOT* C~1930's 14K TWO TONE NIB With Gold Filled Trim History: the Balance was introduced to the waiting world in 1929, and met with considerable success. Sheaffer tinkered continually with the clips on Balance pens during the 1930s. The first clips had a distinctive stepped or "humped" profile, with large ball ends. Over time, as if by some organic process, the hump gradually straightened, and the ball was flattened out and integrated into the clip end to form more of a teardrop shape . Sheaffer simply tapered off both ends of its pens, creating what the jewelers (or bakers) might call a "baguette" shape, or the cigar makers a "perfecto" shape, improved writing feel and giving the new range the name "Balance. This Older Carmine Striated Pearl Red with Gold Filled Trim, Clip with Flat Ball End "Balance" Vac-Fil Filling Fountain Pen is in Very Good condition. T are no engravings, just normal minor vintage handling wear. This 1930's Sheaffer Lifetime fountain pen comes in varying shades of pearl red and black striated colors. Having ink visibility supply section on the barrel which is semi transparent. The Sheaffer inprint engraved on the barrel is sharp and clear and reads W.A.Sheaffer Pen Co. Fort Madison, Iowa. U.S.A. Patented In U.S.A. The cap has the White Dot trademark. A 14K two tone nib which is in excellent condition and reads Sheaffer's, Lifetime, Made In U.S.A. This beautiful pen has a vac-fil type filling system and is in working order. It draws and holds ink and writes well. Measuring 5 1/2" capped. Beautifully colored fountain pen.
