This Sherwater Pottery handmade figure is of a young black man in blue bib overalls with his hands tucked inside the bib. He is smiling and seems to be dancing a jig or hopping with one knee and foot raised. He is in very good shape and has no damage and only the variables of a hand made piece. I see a few tiny missing glaze spots around the foot. This piece is unmarked, may not have been enough room on the base. I have found one like him on a Shearwater site. One of the 5 similar figures I purchased in a group does have the signature Shearwater 89. Shearwater Pottery of Ocean Springs, Mississippi is a family owned and operated business and has been in business for more than 70 years. Apparently they still make pottery and are well know for the great little Black Americana figures as well as the hand thrown pottery pieces. This item will be shipped from Texas.
