Sheffield-Cut Throat Straight Razor *SHAVE READY* The Straight Razor Guy I'm offering this great old Sheffield straight razor with mottled celluloid handles which mimic a faux marble appearance. English steel is my personal favorite for shave quality and this one shaves very nicely. It's in super nice condition as can be seen in the photos. Please read the condition specifics below, see the photos above and contact me with any questions prior to bidding. I also recommend checking out my other items for sale as I normally have many very nice straight razors being offered at any one time. If you are an international buyer/bidder please take note that your country may charge a duty or tax on the import of this razor. Some countries do and others do not. You'll have to check that out for yourself because I have no idea who will bid on my razors, w they live or what the requirements of their country may be. A person who recently bought a razor from me who lives in Great Britain wrote me and said I should make note of this situation. Item condition specifics : Blade -The blade is 5/8" wide and is made of high carbon English steel . I judge the grind to be extra hollow. It is free of rust, oxidation, nicks, cracks or other damage. It has a square point and has a slight curve to the blade edge which is so pleasing to shave with. Hone wear is minimal if any at all. T's still a lifetime of shaves remaining in the highly collectible razor. Handle/Scales -The handles/scales of this razor are brown and tan mottled celluloid and are in very nice condition. They mimic a marble pattern. They are free of nicks, cracks, warp or other damage. They are highly polished. Wedge - This razor has an ivory colored celluloid wedge. It is even and tight between the scales. Box/Coffin - T is no box included with this razor. Action -The blade closes evenly between the scales and the tension is nice and even throughout opening and closing. T is no wobble of the blade between the handles or around the pivot pin. The blade will hold in whatever position you put it in. Balance - This razor is medium in weight and the balance is good. Sharpness *- This razor is ** SHAVE READY ! * *The term 'Shave Ready' means something different to each of us so let me define for you what it means to us. If a razor has been listed as 'Shave Ready' it has been honed on two progressively finer grits of Norton stone to establish a proper bevel. It has then been stropped on two progressively finer grits of diamond pasted paddle strops. It has then been stropped on linen and finally lightly stropped on leather. The razor has passed the 'Hanging Hair Test-HHT' which is pretty widely accepted and being acceptably sharp. The item is then shave tested by me to determine if it provides a clean, close comfortable shave. It is then cleaned, sterilized, photographed and listed for sale. If the item passed the above test I list it as 'Shave Ready' and it will only require a light stropping on leather by you prior to it's first use. If the razor did not pass the above test or was not tested, it will be listed as 'Not Shave Ready' . If you need more information, ask me. Packaging- Your razor will be delivered in a box with proper padding to provide for safe arrival. Your razor will not be delivered in a padded envelope which is just asking for problems.
