SHERATON PERIOD MAHOGANY WORK TABLE-NORTH SHORE MASSACHUSETTS CIRCA 1810 This offering is for a fabulous Sheraton period Circa 1810 North Shore Massachusetts mahogany two drawer drop leaf work table graced with outrageously finely carved tapered rope twist legs. The making of furniture employing rope twist carvings is to indicate the owner made his fortune at sea. The North Shore (Salem, Essex, Peabody, Newbury and Manchester) of Massachusetts was the 18 th and early 19 th Century hub for China trade. Many old Yankee families, such as the Peabodys, made their original fortunes in China trade. This wonderful two drawer work table has a top drawer divider and original lock. Its in a great original finish and we simply can’t say enough about this piece. It is 17 ½” long (with the leaves down) 16 ¾” wide (deep) 28 ½” tall and 32” long with the leaves locked up on the wooden hinge system arms that supports the leaves.
