Tonight I'm happy to offer, from a recently purchased estate, Sherman, Vintage, Late 1950's - Yellow AB Color - Marquise and Round Shaped Crystals - 2.5" Over Sized - Figural Butterfly Brooch. EXTREMELY RARE DESIGN! - BOOK PIECE! - MINT CONDITION! - NO RESERVE! This handsome and impressive brooch dates from the late 1950's, made by the well known Canadian firm of "Sherman" designed as a 2.5" by 2" over sized, figural butterfly layered and stacked for a 3-D effect. The brooch is done in a series of dazzling and intense lilac flashed yellow AB color round and marquise shaped crystals set in a gold plated setting. This brooch can be seen on page 189 of the new Yallen and Caldwell Sherman book - "Sherman Jewellery - The Masterpiece Collection". The brooch is in mint condition showing only normal use all the original stones, none missing or replaced with no loss to the finish or plating. The brooch is marked on the back of the clasp, Sherman in script letters. SHERMAN Sherman was a Canadian costume jewelry company that produced very high-quality pieces. Colorful or clear prong-set rhinestones or cut crystal beads (sometimes with an aurora borealis finish) adorn most Sherman pieces; the metal is rhodium-plated or gold-plated.
