“Ship Ahoy” sailor dress ensemble for 22-23" Saucy Walker, Posie, Pedigree or similar size doll This week Miss PattyPearl (my Saucy Walker doll) feels verypatriotic as she models her sailor dress and 'cracker jack' hat. I present this outfit as a tribute to all our servicemen – and, as well, a tribute to my Mom: My i nspiration for it came from outfits my mother made for my two sisters and me when we were little girls in the 1950s (she made each of the three of us one in a different color – blue, rosy-red and white – [mine was the white one]). I've chosen to use the same type of linen-like fabric and have trimmed it as close to the originals as I can remember. And like her originals, this dress features box pleats attached to a sleeveless lined bodice -- you can see it just barely peeking out at the 'V' neckline. The overblouse fastens in the back and features a detachable sailor collar, with appropriately-colored trim. I recalled that once Mom had completed our dresses she and my older sister proceeded to make one from the fabric leftovers for my sister's Saucy Walker doll. I'm sure we all looked so cute in them ( the doll still does! ) So, remembering this, I asked my sister to help me make a pattern from that outfit ~~ this is the result.
