Original Glass Negative"Lake Gebhart"at Barnes-Tibbitts Co.Alameda, CaliforniaShip was built in Chicago (Chicago Ship Building Co.) 1919Sank in 1923 after hitting a reef on a voyage to AlaskaPhotographer: Not IdentifiedVintage dry glass negative, 4113 c.1920-1921. Good condition and well d etailed as shown; some light fading around the edges; glass has no chips or cracks; note scratches in the emulsion, sky area; beyond dusting, I've not cleaned the negative; about 8" x 10". The overall positive and negative scans in this listing are at a low resolution; the details are shown from a higher resolution look at the image. There is no print with this negative.Negative source: In the 1950's, a northern California collector purchased several large glass plate and film negative libraries of professional photographers' work, in search of negatives containing his limited subjects of interest. The remainder of these c.1900-1925 acquisitions were boxed and set aside. After 40+ years in storage, the late collector's family has decided to part with some of the archive.Content primarily includes San Francisco street scenes, East Bay development, local industry, railroads, automobiles, aviation, ships, fires and disasters, sports and recreation.
