SHOREBIRD DECOY! unique, artist-made using beachcombed treasures. size-9" including base From SandDollar Salvage - a wonderful, delicately beautiful shorebird sculpture or decoy. Each sculpture I make is uniquely one of a kind, made from local driftwood and found objects and flea market finds. This bird is perhaps a sandpiper ....His body & head are formd with two pieces of driftwood that were carefully rescued by me, dried and lightly painted in soft greys and white. One unusual piece of wood forms its head, eyes, and beak or bill. The wings are made of discarded pieces of metal such as old screening & thin copper. The copper has some turquoise patina showing. The bird is set onto a wire or spike, looks like aluminum, and stands on a small block of driftwood that retains its original bright blue-green paint. The base has a primitively incised nameplate made of aged copper & says "Sandpiper".Fragile and special, for a gift or for your own collection. This sculpture is carefully constructed but due to the natiure of the materials used it is somewhat fragile. I highly recommend that the buyer purchese shipping insurance!Enjoy!
