Rare official Ministry of Supply 8x6 photos of the Short SA.4 Sperrin jet bomber built by Short Brothers and Harland of Belfast, popularly abbreviated "Shorts". It first flew in 1951 and was a fall-back option in case the more advanced jet designs of the V-bombers were delayed, and it was not put into production because these swept-wing designs (such as the Vickers Valiant) were by then available. The Sperrin prototypes were however valuable for research data on large jet aircraft. The photos are captioned "B14/46 prototype - Avon - August 1951" and the back has a Ministry of Supply official stamp and "Confidential" - a fabulous piece of aviation history from 60(!) years ago.For non-UK bidders please request a postage price before bidding. .
