Thiscomic is one from the “play pile”; a bunch of comics which used to be given to younger kids to read when they came to the house. I am listing it because it is an older used comic and I have learned even these books can have value to a collector, depending on the comic. This book is Showcase #30; which came out in January/February 1961. As far as the story line, this book was an attempt to launch an Aquaman comic book. What makes it a bit different, is that it gives Aquaman’s origin story, including the story of his parents. I really do not recall that information appearing in other books, although it may have and I am unaware of it. As to the book’s condition, the cover is detached from the book, is in two separate pieces and is ragged around the edges to say the least. The book itself has yellowed pages, but compared to the cover’s damage, is in comparatively good shape. I am at a loss to understand why the cover was so beat up and yet the book not so much.
