's a great gadget in excellent condition...........if you can use it! This is a Signal Corp AM 494/GR transmitter and PP 638 AD power supply. Items are dated 1952. These units constitute the RF power amplifier and supply of a VHF FM transmitter system. Condition of unit is excellent, complete original. The tubes in the RF amp are a pair of 4X 150 A's. The power supply uses a pair of 3B 28's. Panel meters read "test milliamps" 50, "plate" 500 (ma) and "kilovolts" to 1.5 kv. This unit could be used as is for repeater power or--power supply could be used for other ham transmitter applications. T's a small fortune in parts in this unit. Transmit relays, power transformers, high voltage caps, etc.. Of course, everything is built to milspec and over engineered accordingly. The case appears to have been designed so this unit could literally be dropped out of an airplane. I assume they intended to use a parachute! Dimensions on the cabinet are 27" high, 20" wide, 17" deep. This unit probably weighs 155 lbs.. This unit is shippable. We would prefer pick-up. Fair starting bid and no reserve on this item. Satisfaction guaranteed. Buyer pays shipping/customs. We know how to pack! See our other auctions for more cool stuff! additional data....i FOUND THE book!!
