This book belonged to a Miami Beach socialite who befriended for years several sports stars, including boxing champ Jack Dempsey. We don't know how she obtained the book. She might have gone to the 1989 Hall of Fame ceremony, or she might have gotten it as a gift from a friend. We simply don't know the facts, only that she owned it at the time her estate was sold. The book was published for the 50th Anniversary of the Baseball Hall of Fame. We believe, but are not certain, there was a ceremony at the Hall of Fame where players were invited, and the book sold, and in that occasion the previous owner of the book got all these autographs.
