The painting is watercolor on paper and the visible area of the painting measures 21 ¾ by 14 ¾ inches or 55.2 by 37.4 cm. The painting is in a tan color matte it measures 29 by 22 inches or 73.6 by 55.8 cm.The painting features a portrait of a monk seated in a stone corridor. He is shown in his tattered robes concentrating on threading a needle. The painting has excellent attention to detail throughout and portrays a life of simplicity and focus. The painting is signed on the lower right "F. GLYNDON", this for Frank Glyndon (1847-1937). Frank Glyndon was born in Prague, Bohemia in 1847. Glyndon sailed from Liverpool to New York in 1892. Shortly after the turn of the century, he moved to northern California and settled in Alameda into a studio-home at 1810 Sherman Street. As well as portraits, he also painted genre scenes of people in various activities.The painting is in excellent condition, the matte needs replacing, this painting does not come framed and I can also remove the matte before shipping. There are a couple of white areas on the lower left of the painting where it looks read more
