OPENING BID JUST LOWERED!! SIGNED, AUTHENTIC and ORIGINAL ANTIQUE by 1920's FRENCH ART DECO MASTER, MAX LE VERRIER, Woman with a Ball, "LEUER" or "Glow"or "Glimmer" . This is NOT A RECASTING ! It is the SIGNED , FIRST and ORIGINAL CASTING of the famous dancing nude statue by Max Le Verrier . Max Le Verrier foundry wa s created in 1926 in Paris France and specialized in original and signed bronze and high quality white metal art deco sculptures through the 1930's. They edited the work of other sculptors such as Guerbe, Fayral, Bouraine, Becquerel, Janle, and Masson, but the work of the master sculptor, Max LeVerrier, was the prize of the day. This is a hard to find original, signed by Max Le Verrier himself, 1920's first casting of his 13 ½" statue of the " Woman With The Ball " or " Lueur ", holding an onyx ball and standing tiptoe mounted on black marble base. (The larger, life-size casting of the same piece which was made into a lamp is called "Clarte" or "Lightness".) LeVerrier used three models, one to sit for the head, one for the torso, and the last, a dancer with Josephine Baker's ballet troupe, for the legs. I have included a photograph of Le Verrier at work in his studio with one of his models. It is in near mint condition after professional restoration to the wrist, which had been damaged. A tiny steel rod was inserted and t is a slight indentation that is very unnoticeable. (See photo) But the wrist is now stronger than the rest of the statue! A couple of other flaws were also corrected at that time. The result is near perfection! Please note that the actual color is much darker than it appears in the full sun photos that I have provided for detail. It is more like the indoor daylight gallery picture, though it appears even darker at night in artificial light. I am starting the bidding at less than half the value of the piece. Please visit Max Le Verrier's great grandson's web site by clicking on this link ( http://mlv75.club.fr/homepage.html ) and view this piece under Statues - Dancers, as well as see the history of this master of the French Art Deco movement. Similar to Frankart, but not mass produced. Recastings of this original work have been turned into lamps and sell for more than the opening bid! Please contact seller for more information or to request additional views of this masterpiece! No Reserve and Low Shipping with Insurance Included !
