Dated 1985. Folio-over 12"-15" tall. Black stamped light brown cloth boards, with large b&w photographic pastedown panels on the front and rear boards. Photographs and foreword by the gifted Avedon, with a background essay by Laura Wilson. Magnificent collection of b&w photographic portraits completed with the support of the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. Unpaginated but about 184 pp. with 114 large format duotone photographs printed on high quality paper. Designed by Marvin Israel and Elizabeth Avedon. Portraits of blue collar westerners, captured, with respect and dignity. This book is said to be Avedon's best. He was making an attempt at getting away from his glamorous celebrity photographer image with these portraits. Nicely printed. With DJ.Very Good in a very good acetate dust jacket. Boards have soiling and scuffing. Light wear to the boards, to the spine and to the edges. Lettering is still very bright. Soil spots to the fore edges. Binding excellent. DJ is complete.
