Necklace Inside strand: 29"; Outside strand: 29.5". Clasp in good vintage condition--all rose montees are bright, the gold-plated brass looks appropriately antiquey, but the central faux pearl has some wear. Clasp works, incidentally. The tiny brass beads between each two pearls are in fine condition -- no verdigris. Photos 1 and 2 show the necklace lying first on one side and then on the other. It should be possible to get a good look at the damaged pearls which, in any case, stand out in the photos because of their sepia color. They're not exactly wrecks, and they are on a side rather than in front, but they are unquestionably there. I have previously made the case that we should begin to treat vintage jewelry as we do antique furniture and preserve the signs of its previous use as part of its history. Nevertheless, I must point out that there are plenty of pearls here to restring a fine, slightly shorter necklace and that this result would not seriously violate the integrity of this piece.
