PEDRO CASTILLO TAXCO MEXICAN STERLING SILVER BRACELET This rare find is a signed Pedro Castillo of Taxco Mexican Sterling Bracelet c.1940. It is comprised of 4 slightly beveled links each an Art Nouveau inspired swirl; the design is in high relief above an oxidized ground with 2 sterling ball-like beads accenting each link. Each link is joined with two sturdy silver rings; the bracelet closes with a good tongue and box type clasp that fastens securely. Pedro Castillo worked for William Spratling and Hector Aguilar until approx. 1939. Known for his quality craftsmanship he started his own workshop in the 1940. He was well known for his flatware; his designs were often reminiscent of Art Deco. He designed 14 of the crowns worn by the queens of the annual silver festival in Taxco.
