SILHOUETTE OF J. DIXON, circa 1825 This silhouette was taken in about 1825 in the U.K. It is painted on card and gum arabic was used to pick out his collar and hair. It is in the original black papier maché frame with convex glass and brass fittings. The paper on the back has the name of the sitter, 'John Nicol Dixon' in script. It is 4½" by 5½". It is in very good condition with just some browning of the white card with age and a very slight crease on the surface of the white card.
