An early silver cased pocket watch, with a signed 'John Hughes & Co. of Carnarvon' (Caernarvon, Wales) fusee lever movement, dating to 1877/8, in good overall condition and good working order, keeping good time. The silver case is in good condition, hinges tight and covers snap shut. The case is hallmarked for Chester, 1877/8, initials 'TR' and numbered '73561' which matches the movement number. The case is 48mm overall diameter ignoring the stem. The enamel dial is marked 'JOHN HUGHES & CO., 12 POOL ST., CARNARVON', and is in good condition apart from a chip at the centre of the subsiduary dial. The convex bevelled glass crystal has a couple of small edge chips. The fusee lever movement is in good clean condition and good working order, keeping good time. The movement is signed 'John Hughes & Co., 12 Pool St., Carnarvon' and numbered '73561' matching the dial and case. The movement has a diamond end-stone in the balance cock. The movement is key wind and set which work fine, modern key included.
