This is for another interesting religious item i am selling this week, i actually have three of these little priests boxes, i am not exactly sure what it is but a little research seems to point to it being some kind of Pyx box, a box designed for carrying the Eucharist to those who cant receive it in church. I have three for sale two smaller ones from 1902 made by the ecclesiastical silversmith F.A.Barrett and marked 'B' on one and 'D' on the other and a slightly larger later one by A.E.J.ones. This auction is for the larger box by A.E.Jones, the box is marked with a capital 'I' on both the side and the lid and it carries a full set of English sterling silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1964 with the A.E.Jones makers mark above. It is in very good condition with no damage to it anywhere, there are no dings or dents, no holes, splits or cracks and no repairs or restorations. It measures 25mm in diameter and stands 30mm tall. I have shown the other two boxes in the last pic, but obviously this auction is just for the one stated, the other two are not included.
