This is a very dramatic rip cut specimen of petrified spruce from Nevada's famed Hubbard Basin! The cut revealed multiple knots in the face preserved in the same exquisitely colorful, super hard agate that the rest of the log is preserved in. You can collect for a lifetime and not see a more beautiful or more interesting specimen of petrified wood than this one! The knot forms a staub on the back of the stone, forever preserving the partially rotted log on the external rind of this gemstone as beautifully as it did in the now polished face!! One of the most interesting, fanciest and richly colored Hubbard Basin specimens I've had in quite a while! This piece is cut with the grain to show a very different color pattern than the other gorgeous Hubbard Basin petrified wood we've recently offered!! The back is also cut flat (this was going to be a set of bookends until I saw the incredible wood grain and decided to keep it whole and make one giant stand-up). This choice display piece features all of the best of the Hubbard Basin petrified wood colors in an impressively sized display piece! This is really an excellent, very high quality fossil specimen from Nevada's Hubbard Basin. The wood found there is some of the most colorful in the world, rivaling the popular Arizona specimens in color variety, but tending more toward blue & gold
