Sisters, Saml. Gabriel & Sons No. D135, circa 1940 by Lucille Patterson Marsh This box set is shown in its entirety in the photos. 16.2" x 11.3" x 1". The date is unknown. My guess of 1940 is from the book Paper Dolls and Their Artists by Mary Young. According to this book, Lucille Patterson Marsh "In the 1930's she did paper dolls for the Merrill Publishing Co. and illustrated school readers in the late 1930's for the MacMillan Company. In 1940, she illustrated a series of children's books for Samuel Gabriel & Sons..." Condition Good - the box has a slight crush. edge wear and two tears in one corner repaired with transparent tape. Both dolls have creases aligned with the stand slots, Polly has a crease on her left arm and Suzy has a crease in her neck. One stand piece is missing.
