Here are six pre-WW2 Delaware painted steel 'small diamond' license plates for one bid. The First State is sometimes referred to the 'Diamond State' not because those precious gems are found in the sands and mudflats of Delaware, rather because folks once considered it a 'diamond among states' larger and more populous. The diamond symbol first appeared on the state's license plates in 1929. There were two different sizes; the ones shown are the smaller version, issued 1936 through 1941. Actual size of the 1939 = 5-1/2 x 10-1/2 inches; the 1940 and 1941's are 5-1/2 x 9-1/2 inches . There was no dated 1940 Delaware plate; this year and the following displayed the expiration date on the plate. Plates being offered in this listing are used specimens in varying condition from very good original to amateur repaint (the #13-260). They are better than the typically rust-covered plates which once were commonly found in old barns and outbuildings, but today due to many years of active searching by plate enthusiasts, even those in fair to poor condition have become difficult to locate. Tagbarn downsizing is your opportunity. Good luck, thanks for looking. Note, I always combine shipping when practical!FOUR standard size heavy steel plates will ship for the same price as one!Larger quantities to one address will be sent in the P.O. medium flat
