SIX 6 DIRECTIONS Fetish BADGER~ Daisey & Lavies NATEWA Up for auction is a wonderful SIX DIRECTIONS fetish set by Zuni Pueblo artisans Daisy & Lavies Natewa. A directional fetish typically takes one of three forms: it may be a set of six separate individual animals, or sometimes all six animals are carved from one stone, or as in this case, it's five individually carved animals attached to the sixth "base animal." In this case the base animal is a BADGER carved from Pipestone. Attached to this Badger's back there is a black marble MOLE, a turquoise BEAR, a dolomite EAGLE, a "gold lip" mother-of-pearl MT LION and a white mother-of-pearl WOLF. SIZE: This piece measures about 1&3/4 inches in length, 1&1/4 inches at its widest point and stands almost 1 inch tall. AUTHENTICITY: This is an authentic Native American hand-carved item and comes from the Zuni Pueblo in Northern New Mexico (USA). It is initialed by the artists on the bottom "DN" "LN" and "Zuni". In Zuni tradition, the six directions fetish represents the four cardinal directions plus up (sky) and down (underground).
