Up for auction, an old stereoview of what I believe to be a diorama celebrating the Mexican Day of the Dead or Día de Los Muertos. This is one of the older stereoviews in my collection and I would tentatively date it around 1860. The photos themselves are a bit faded and I believe the artist poked holes through the eyes of the skeletons to give it a more eerie appearance if lit from the back. Signed on the back, but I can't decipher the signature. Stamped yellow mount has some discoloration- but not too bad. An interesting early stereoview. As always, only $9 to start.
