And although there is actually a small bird called a snipe the whole episode is meant to pull off a practical joke on the individual that is in the “Bag holder” position of the snipe hunt and that is the unwitting youngster or adult who is placed in an area holding a bag while the others leave, supposedly to drive the snipes to the “bag holder”, but they simply leave the area.
