And on October 8, 2013 the relay began its route around Russia. The Olympic Torch Relay was the longest national relay by time and the longest by distance in the history of the Olympic Winter Games. The route covered over 65,000 km, i.e. one and a half times as long as the Earth's equator! The Olympic Torch visited 128 towns in Russia and all 83 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. In total, the relay passed through more than 2,900 towns and settlements from Moscow to Sochi. On this pin badge you can see Olympic Cauldron.
